This week's strips: a tribute to syndicated classics.

I'm going to Arizona this week!

Actually, I'm going to Arizona today - a little earlier than Phoenix Comic Con, because I'm visiting my best bud Val and her new baby before the show. So instead of doing full-color strips this week, I've whipped up some tributes to the old strips I used to read as a kid, GWS-style.

In case you were wondering, yes, I checked out every Family Circus book in the school library when I was in grade school. I was much more... shall we say, well-behaved? Either way, I was wearing dresses and knee-socks to school until fifth grade, so that should tell you a little something about my childhood.

I have to hand it to the Keanes; after researching their style and attempting to mimic their character designs, I found that their lines are enviably super-smooth! I wish I had that kind of control.

Luckily, I do not have the kind of control that would hold me back from adding a liquor cabinet to a Family Circus tribute. Cheers!
